About Me

My photo
I am a mother of three boys and one girl, my youngest son Walker is developmentally delayed with no diagnosis, I am divorced and re-married, living life as I never imagined. I may be cynical, but I try to see the world as it is.... no frills but plenty of laughs.

Photo Challenge Day 29

*Day 29*: A picture that always makes you smile.

Photo Challenge Day 28

*Day 28*: A picture of something you're afraid of.

I know it may seem irrational, but since I have battled with depression and anxiety for a long time, once of my greatest fears is just straight up losing it... seriously......

Photo Challenge Day 27

*Day 27*: A picture of yourself and a family member.

Here are the only two pictures I know of that are just my dad and I.  Wish I had more, and most importantly that he showed his face!

Photo Challenge Day 26

*Day 26*: A picture of something that means a lot to you.

I'm still not completely done with my education goals, but for my Bachelors degree, it really represents a transformation of my life and my ideals of who I am.  It symbolizes a time when I put myself and my own needs on the list of "to do", and it makes me proud of how far as a person I have come.  I can only imagine where I will be when I am done!

Photo Challenge Day 25

*Day 25*: A picture of your day.

Although this is not my actual house it could be on any given day of any given minute. Chasing after a toddler, assisting a special needs child, arguing with a nine year old and a tween gives me little chance to catch my breath, let alone sweep or wash my floors. Add a few dirty diapers, some dog food and wood chips, and this could very easily be my house right now!

Photo Challenge Day 24

*Day 24*: A picture of something you wish you could change.

My hair!  I hate that it is limp, straight and fine.  As you can see I have always been perming it to get some sort of body to it!  It also doesn't help that my hair takes FOREVER to grow.  I'm not just saying that , ask my mom!  Poor lady, she has been witness to many, many tears of unhappiness due to my hair.  I've fried it with Sun in, (remember that stuff, just spray it in your hair and smell it burning!), permed it to curly cue, its been ever color you can think of,(even green!) and every length, except long!  Heck, I've even caught it on fire!!  (more on that another day!)

I guess the grass is always greener right? or is it the hair?

Photo Challenge Day 22

*Day 22*: A picture of something you wish you were better at.

Don't tell my husband but I wish I was better at cleaning my own house.  I can clean anywhere else.  At work, I'm a spit ball of fire, dusting, vacuuming, whatever needs to get done.  At home, forget it.  I think there are several reasons.  One is that whatever I clean is quickly messed up again by the feral animals that live there.  Another is that I just have way more things I would rather be doing, like blogging.

Photo Challenge Day 19 - All caught up!

*Day 19*: A picture of you when you were little. ( I had to do some scanning to find the right picture to post!)  Even then, I knew what I wanted!!

Phoot Challenge 21 (making up for lost time)

*Day 21*: A picture of something you wish you could forget.

There are quite a few that I would rather not recall, but I will list them here because otherwise my father will have to come out of the blogging closet and post all about them! (He loves to discuss this stuff at family holidays!)
  • There is the one that is still loving referred to as "shit head".  I don't necessarily want to forget him, just the nick name that my father gave him and the every year Thanksgiving tale.
  • There is the one that might have turned out to be a serial killer, not sure, and don't really want to find out.
  • Then there was the one who was so full of himself that he couldn't be bothered to bring me a milkshake, while I laid in my hospital bed after crashing my car around a tree.
  • There is also the one that dumped me because I wouldn't have sex with him, and who now works with my husband on occasion, so i am forced to be ridiculed by him calling him my boyfriend.
  • Of course there was also the one that slept with all the girls I worked with.
So, yes, I do have a long line of exes, however, after reading the above list, you can see that my judgment wasn't always the best, so i had to work on it.

So dad, did i miss anyone? LOL!  Love you!

Photo Challenge Day 20 - out of order

*Day 20*: A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel.

Photo Challenge Day 18

*Day 18*: A picture of your biggest insecurity.

Insecure about how much time I spend with them, if I feed them right, if they will hate me when they get older, if they hate me now!, if I  will make them go to therapy, if I say the right things, if I teach them the right lessons.

I know, I know all parents have these insecurities but it doesn't make me feel any better.

Photo Challenge Day 17

*Day 17*: A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently.

Going back to work has made a huge impact on my life recently.  It has bolstered my self esteem, it has put me in touch with my "roots" again and made me feel more than just "mommy".

Photo Challenge Day 13

*Day 14*: A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without.

As hectic as life with four kids can be most days, there is no other way I would live my life.  They remind me to not take life seriously, to enjoy the small moments, and to just be me!

Photo Challenge Day 11

*Day 12*: A picture of something you love.

Summer Rain!  As a kid I would get in my  bathing suit and head out in the storm loving the cool feel of the water on the hottest of days. I love to splash in puddles and walk outside even now as a grown up.  Often the kids join me!

Photo Challenge Day 10

*Day 11*: A picture of something you hate.

I hate old female stereotypes that never go away, that we self impose on ourselves, that society continues to manifest and that our daughters will continue to struggle with as well.

Photo Challenge Day 9

*Day 10*: A picture of the person you do the most messed up things with.

That is an easy one!!!

I had to chose this picture even though I am at my heaviest, because we are all in Jamaica, and it was an awesome sisters week!!  In fact, when are we going again???

Photo Challenge Day 8

*Day 9*: A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

Here it is 10:00pm and I have put off doing this post long enough.  I really wish I had some thing or someone to put a huge picture on here and say thanks for always being there, but the truth is lately, I'm just not feeling it.  Its no disrespect to the higher gods, or to those of you who love and care about me, its just... pretty lonely over here these days and I can't quite figure out who to put a picture up of.  Some of my fellow bloggers who are also doing this photo challenge have set the bar pretty high... but like I said... I'm just not feeling it. The best I came come up with is this picture....  because its really been myself, and my own self reflection that has gotten me through most of my life... its just these days... I feel more like the girl in the fun house, than some self acclaimed survivor!

Photo Challenge Day 8

*Day 8*: A picture that makes you laugh.

Whenever we have a girls night out, it is always SO MUCH fun!  This picture shows how silly we are!

Photo Challenge Day 7

*Day 7*: A picture of your most treasured item.

This was a tough post because there are so many things that I treasure, my children, my family, my freedom, my friends and many, many other things.  But as I thought about what to post, I wanted to think of the one thing that if my house were on fire, i would run back in and get.  So then it was easy!

I have always kept a journal since I was 7 years old.  Some years I post a lot and others may go by with only one or two entries.  But what the journal represents to me is my inner thoughts and feelings, my "me" time, no masks, no responsibilities... just me!

Photo Challenge Day 5

*Day 5*: A picture of your favorite memory.

This is a hard one since I have so many memories that I love and cherish!!

One from my childhood is this picture (thanks to the web)

This is Black Lake NY, where we went on vacation as a child.  The memory is of my sister and I, and two other of our family friends daughters, taking a bath in the lake.  Soap and shaving cream!  It was so much fun!
In fact, as adults we took our children there trying to recreate some of these memories for them!!

Photo Challenge: Day 4

*Day 4*: A picture of your night

As much as I have been complaining about my absentee husband, i must admit, we have really fallen into a nice nightly routine which affords me some "me" time.  This is a new concept but I must admit, I am really enjoying it!  I have finally begun some of the creative projects I've been meaning to get to.

Photo Challange Day 2

*Day 2*: A picture of you and the person you have been close with for the longest.

5 years apart, we weren't the "best of friends" as little girls, but somewhere along the line (after children and failed marriages) we become excedingly close.  We even shared a two family house with each other, as two single moms we supported one another the best way we could.  Sure there were some fights (we don't really fight, just stop talking) but there are tons of memories during that time that I cherish!  As my other two sisters get older, i hope that we can have similar friendships. I love them all!!
